Saber Khakipour

I am an experimental filmmaker, visual essayist and video editor creating short experimental and essay films that explore the dialogue between image and music.

My films bring together moving images, editing, movement, atmosphere and music to create cinematic visual compositions. Rather than simply illustrating music, I use images as an expressive language that can respond to, complement, contrast with and reinterpret it.

Nature, human beings, objects and fragments of everyday life become elements within these visual compositions. Through rhythm, juxtaposition, movement and montage, I explore the relationships, impressions and possibilities that emerge when these images come together with music.

Classical music is a particular source of inspiration in my work, while I also explore music from other genres. Across my films, I am interested in image, music, emotion, atmosphere and the ways they can come together through experimental and essayistic forms. I seek to create films that can be experienced not only as visual and musical works, but also as spaces for interpretation and reflection.
